Ok, I'm feeling somewhat human again and while I was sick (in bed and on pain killers) I've made some strange observations. Like:
- Why is there a show on MTV called "Teen Mom 2"??? Wasn't "16 and Pregnant" enough of a reality check?? Do these kids REALLY think that Motherhood is all that and then some?? Please. Enough of it already.
- Now, also on MTV, there is a show called "True Life" (or something to that effect). I get the reasoning for it but do we really need to see people shoving food into their mouths and then complain that they cannot loose weight?? Yes, I was watching "I'm addicted to food" episode. Why oh why do we have shows like this... I will never understand.
-Jersey Shore..... Need I say more?? And WHY on EARTH does this "Snookie" person have a book out?? Please shed some light on this.
- Remember when MTV actually PLAYED VIDEOS??? The good 'ole days, I tell ya. And VH1 used to play Soft Rock videos...ahhh I miss those days.
On a related but different topic -
-Did you know that the music that I listened to in the 80's is now considered CLASSIC ROCK??? Am I THAT old already?? I remember when the Classic Rock station played, you know, Led Zepplin and that kind of stuff. Since when is Duran Duran or INXS Classic Rock?? I hate to think of what my daughter will think of Classic Rock in 20 years or so. Sigh....
I''ve made some other observations but I'll save those for a different post in the future.

Will it ever end??
I know it seems like all I've been doing is complaining about this and that, I'm sorry about that. But those are the things that weigh heavily on my mind lately.
I'm sick again. I'm on another round of antibiotics, pain killers and steroids. I'm exhausted, frustrated, annoyed, confused all rolled up in one emotion. The doctor is testing me for arthritis because some of the other symptoms I've been having don't agree with the skin infection diagnosis. So I had a round of blood work and X-rays done and should know the outcome when I go back for a follow up in Feb. I'm in constant pain and I don't get any help around here. I'm frustrated with my family and they just seem that everything will be taken care of regardless of how I'm feeling. That sucks!!
There are other things going on, especially with Sam. They (the school) thinks it's in Sam's best interest to repeat the 5th grade in the fall and we concentrate on his health from now until then. Sam's sad about that, but DH and I think it's for the best. We are also going to take him to the Headache Clinic at Children's Hospital as soon as the referral goes through. I didn't know there was so much red tape to go through JUST to get an appointment. Geeze..
I thought I would update and hopefully I'll have some better news next time I post.

One of those days........
Where it started out fine, I was feeling fine. The boys were getting along (go figure) and the daughter went back to school (she had a long weekend due to exams.)
I got a phone call from the District Nurse asking me, for the bazillion time, how is Sam? Sam is the same, we go to the doctor tomorrow and we will see where we go from there. She (the stupid nurse) thinks that Sam is depressed. He's not, trust me, he's not. I'm not sure what to do for him at the moment, thus the doctor appointment tomorrow.
Then I got an unexpected phone call from my cousin, Carol in Minnesota. We chatted for about an hour about her family and mine and what has been going on within our families and so on. It was so nice to talk to her. Will have to visit sometime.
Now I feel like crap. I think I have, yet another, skin infection. I'm grouchy, crabby, tired and so on. I think I need to make a doctor's appointment for me tomorrow morning. UGH!! I am not happy (even though I should be because the Packers are going to the Superbowl...had to plug that in somewhere..)
There is more family drama that I just don't want to be a part of. It just seems like my Dad's side of the family is strange, weird, dysfunctional?? . I dunno.. I just don't want to be a part of that drama. I have enough going on here as it is.
On the UP side, DH told me that there is a bunch of work coming into the company he works for and he should be REALLY busy soon. At least that's a positive thing. Looking for the BRIGHT side of things.
I'm going to run and take some Advil and crawl into bed.
Hugs

I am...
I've been doing a lot of self-reflecting lately (I think it's good to do that from time to time.) and I've come to the conclusion that I am a lot of things to a lot of different people. So with that being said, here is my list:
I am:
- a daughter
- a best friend
- a sister
- a wife
- a mom (which I thought I would never be)
- an aunt
- an advid reader (thanks to my husband)
- a lover of photography
- a blogger
- a mom to a chronically ill child
- an internet-crazy person (lol)
- chronically ill myself
- an obessessed fan of crime and mysteries on TV
- a coffee person (love it love it love it)
- a cat person ( not a crazy cat lady as my husband would call me ;) )
I'm sure there is more, but I cannot remember the entire list as I was drifting off to sleep when I came up with the list.

Random Thoughts
Well well it's Tuesday. Time for some random thoughts. Bet you didn't think I had anymore, did ya?? Here we go:
- Nothing says "Good Morning" like a power outage. Yup, no heat, no lights and more importantly NO COFFEE. Power was back up within an hour so all is good now. :)
- Do we REALLY care if Regis is retiring?? Do we REALLY care if Brett "stupid-ass" Favre is retiring for the umpteenth time??
- Daughter is really annoying if she doesn't get enough sleep!!! (love you SOOOO MUCH!!)
- Nothing says "Winter in Wisconsin" like 6 inches of freshly fallen snow (to shovel btw) followed by a BLAST of cold weather!! I want summer back so bad!!
- Why oh why do I have to be the ONLY human in this house to put dishes in the dishwasher?? Maybe I should print out a map of the dishwasher and "show" people how to load the stupid thing. LOL now that would be funny as all get out.
- Do we really care if one of the models on QVC is preggers?? I mean really, why is that news?? Slow news day perhaps?
Last random thought, I promise :)
- Betty White had a birthday yesterday and I for one am glad to see her still around.

Food Network/Cooking Channel rant
So, I'm watching the snow fall and have the Food Network/Cooking Channel on in the background. I flip between the two of them on a regular basis. And while watching Everyday Italian, I've come to the conclusion that:
1) She NEVER takes a breath. Seriously!! When the hell does she breathe??
2) Why must she speak the semi-Italian speak for some words??? Us, normal people, don't do that and yes, I know she's Italian and all but really, please speak normally. Thanks
3) Does she NOT own a shirt that fits properly?? I mean, I know she is...ummm...blessed with ummmm breasts, but PLEASE cover them properly. I REALLY don't think that men are watching the show at 2 in the afternoon.
4) While the food that she cooks looks good in theory, I've tried cooking a few of them and I cannot get it to look the way that it does when she cooks the same DAMN thing!!
5) One more thing then I'll move on. Why does she think that we all have Ricotta cheese on hand?? That stuff is expensive and unless I'm making stuffed shells or something of the like, I'm not buying it. Nope!!
Then over on the Food Network.......there is this show called Secrets From a Restaurant Chef (or something to that effect). Can you say, weird? annoying? what is that woman on? If you are a fan of this show, please accept my sincere apologies. But me, I cannot stand that woman. It's almost as bad as watching The Neeley's and their non-stop (hidden) sex talk. GEEZE....
Now for a show that I absolutely adore. It's the show on the Cooking Channel called French Food at Home. I LOVE her kitchen, her little accent, the simplicity of her cooking and everything looks good. I would share a picture of this lovely woman, but for the life of me, I don't know how to load the picture and give proper credit. I'm looking into that.
Now I must run and call hubs and remind him to bring home soy milk so I can have my Raisin Bran in the morning.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow..............This is Wisconsin folks...:)

Friday......already??
Happy Friday!!
Let's see, what will today bring?
Today will bring the following:
doing a crap load of laundry (again)
cleaning the dining room table (again) after daughter messed it up doing her lab project for class
emptying the dishwasher (wonder if I can get son #1 to do it??)
clean off the kitchen table (again, don't people know how to put away anything in this house??)
and maybe a trip to the gas station to fill my car up. Wonder if I can get hubs to do that??
As you can see, I have a lot to do. Well, it's a lot for ME to do. See, most people in this house don't help me. With the exception of daughter (who knows she will get money for helping extra and beyond what is expected of her). I don't understand why once I get better, everyone thinks that they don't have to help. They live here. I really don't ask for much help around here and when I do - I always get "GEEZE MOM, I"M PLAYING VIDEO GAMES, CAN IT WAIT??" crap. No it cannot wait, just do it and be done with it. It's not that hard to do.
I'm SO tempted to dis-assemble the video gaming systems and put them away for a good long time and see what they will do with their time. I'm still being asked for this game or that game. I keep on telling them, "do you have money to pay for it, because I sure as hell don't." and that usually shuts them up. Maybe I'm being too harsh, I don't know. But those gaming systems are taking the place of helping me around the house, them going outside to get some fresh air, a little time away from the TV and some peace and (well maybe not ) quiet, instead of the yelling at the TV.
How do you get either your husband or your kids to help out more around the house?? Please share.

Family........
There has been some family drama on Facebook over the last 24 hours or so and it got me thinking about what does a family mean to me.
Family in the eyes of my 13 year old consists of Mom, Dad, Brothers and Sisters. Typical family set up, right?
Family in MY eyes consists of those who mean something special to me. The obvious would be my Dad and Mom. For the longest time I thought I was an "only" child. So there was only 3 of us. Nice little family. When I was about 15'ish I discovered that I have a half-brother and half-sister. We really didn't get along for various reasons.
Since my dad passed away I have re-discovered a relationship with my half -sister Roberta. It's been wonderful getting to know her and realizing that we do have so much in common. And, in reality, I always wanted a big sister. :) My mom is encouraging this relationship as she thinks it's a good idea. Rick, the half-brother, told me yesterday that because I'm a HALF-sister, my opinions and feelings basically don't count in this family.
Boy did those words hurt. They hurt Roberta as well. Those words should have never been uttered. He has no heart or feelings at all and it makes me wonder what in the world did I do to deserve those comments. Maybe I'll never know, but I know now that he is no longer part of my life (and frankly, never was) and I should have listened to my "gut" and to my Dad.
Family also means (to me) the online friends that I have gained over the years. Some are my age and some are younger and some are older and that's fine. I ask for advice and get it from them. They mean the world to me and I'm forever grateful for them.
I don't have friends in the city I live in, I'm not sure why, but I don't. The people I thought were my friends, turns out, they are not. And someone who I was "good" friends with for a number of years, turned her back on me and told lies about me. Nice huh? So maybe I'm a little leary about making friends, who knows.

Do you make New Year Resolutions?
I usually don't because I can never stick to them longer than a day. But if I had to wish for one and only one thing this year, I wish for my wonderful, funny "turtle" would get and stay better. 2010 was a hard year both financially and medically for this family and I'm glad to see it end.
If I were to add a few more wishes they would be: healthy kids and husband, financial troubles finally easing up and get my health in better shape. I know the main one I want to happen is with my "turtle". That's all I wish for.
Have a blessed New Year.
Hugs
Kelly
